Installation by Warren Burt. Exhibited as part of “Earwitness: Excursions in Sound” curated by Sonia Leber, 17 November - 11 December 1994. Text reprinted from Earwitness brochure with permission.

In a world where music is described as the imposition of order on noise, Burt embraces the notions of randomisation and chaos. Dense Room, composed from over 300 pieces of Burt’s music, employs a large number of non-standard piano tunings from 5 to 43 notes per octave.
